2008-04-09 - The Cost Management Plan template and tailoring guide have been combined into one Cost Management Plan. The Cost Management Plan identifies the processes and procedures used to manage costs throughout the project’s life cycle.

2008-03-28 - The OSI Policy Analyzer has been removed from the Best Practices website because updates and changes to the original policies upon which the Analyzer were based resulted in misalignment of the tool as a measure of compliance with current OSI Policies. When the PMO has updated OSI Policies and Procedures the Policy Analyzer will be reviewed.

2008-03-17 - The Prime and Non-Prime Contract Management Plan and tailoring guides have been combined into one Contract Management Plan. The Contract Management Plan identifies the activities to be performed or initiated by project staff to manage, track, amend, and close a contract

2008-03-12 - The OSI Policy on Adoption of OSI Best Practices Website has been updated. This policy establishes the OSI Best Practices Website as the official repository for policies, standards, guidance, and industry best practices for projects managed by the Office of Systems Integration.

2008-02-20 - The Issue Action Item Management Process template and tailoring guide and the Escalation Process template and tailoring guide have been combined to form one document. It is now called Issue and Escalation Process.

2008-01-31 - The Governance Plan Template has undergone significant revisions. The Governance Plan template now incorporates tailoring instructions.

2007-12-28 - The Staff Management Plan Template and Responsiblity Assignment Matrix (RAM) have undergone significant revisions. The Staff Management Plan template now incorporates tailoring instructions.

2007-11-15 - The County APD Process website has been restructured to contain more information on Project Background, County Communications, County APD Process (county and state staff to access workflows, procedures, development tools, specific regulatory considerations and other resources to process a County APD in accordance with reengineered process requirements), Training Modules and Key Contacts.

2007-10-19 - Redesigned the OSI Best Practices Website to meet the new CA.GOV standards for website accessibility and usability.

2006-08-17 - Changes have been made across the entire Function-Phase matrix to provide improved clarity, additional references to more detailed information, and to reflect the current structure of OSI (e.g. the creation of the Procurement Center). The following are highlights of changes by functional area:

Administrative Management

In the Overview section, added navigation instructions for the State Contracting Manual, spelled out acronyms, made reference to “Related Topics” for further details, and clarified the reference to the State Administrative Manual (SAM). Also, the preparation of orientation materials for new staff was moved to the Human Resource function.

Budget/Cost Management

Acronyms have been spelled out. A definition of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) has been added. Clarified path to further information regarding Section 11 Notification (within Related Topics section). Added text to the Special Project Report (SPR) topic on navigating to pertinent SAM and SIMM information.

Communication Management

Replaced reference to Best Practices Service Group (BPSG) with OSI Enterprise Project Management Office (OSI-EPMO). Add text to activity of establishing an Escalation Process.

Configuration Management

Made reference to Topics list for further guidance. Modified some text of various activities for clarity. Inserted navigation instructions in Closeout to DGS link for records retention, archiving and other related topics.

Contract Management

Inserted a specific reference to SAM section 5272 regarding Work Authorizations. Added a document link for Project Charter. Consolidated several System Development activities regarding contract deliverables.

Human Resource Management

Added Responsibility Assignment Matrix (RAM), Staff Management Plan, and Master Project Plan to document links. Fixed various typographical errors.

Implementation Support

Changed order of general Methodology description to improve the flow of information. Spelled out acronyms. In the Closeout phase, elaborated on entry in Closeout considerations for data destruction/archiving and also added a reference to the Closeout Checklist

Maintenance & Operations Support

Added IAPD to documents list based on reference made in Overview section.

Procurement Management

Added reference to the SID Policy on Procurement Management located within Compliance Guidelines. Eliminated reference to the HHSDC Acquisition Service Program and replace with references to the OSI Procurement Center and Manager. Reorganized the long list of Procurement activities to improve readability. Add several references to Related Topics section for further information.

Project Management

Added Concept of Operations to document list in Project Management Initiation. Spelled out various acronyms. Reword and reduced redundancy of various activity descriptions.

Quality Assurance Management

Modified activity in Initiation concerning lessons learned. Added reference documents to the documents list. Replace reference to BPSG with OSI-EPMO.

Requirements Management

Added Requirements Traceability Matrix and Requirements Management Plan to documents list. Add System Test Summary, User Acceptance Test, and Change Control Board definitions.

Risk Management

Under Related Topics for Overview section, revised link for SEI Taxonomy-based Risk Identification.

Schedule/Work Plan Management

Added Master Project Plan and Schedule Management Plan to the documents list. As part of Closeout, added definition for “division repository”.

2006-05-08 - Modifications to website content, templates and tailoring guides to reflect the change in the organization from System Integration Division (SID) to the Office of System Integration (OSI).

2004-09-30 - More templates and tailoring guides have been added in the areas of Procurement, Contract Management, Communication and Configuration Management.

2004-09-21 - The Project Office In A Box (POIAB) Documentation Directory (#3272) has been updated to reflect the latest status of templates and tailoring guides accessible on this website. Refer to the POIAB Templates area in the IManage Repository.

2004-09-21 - Also, links to DGS' Records Retention area have been added to the Links and Downloads area, including a link to a PDF document about IT Records Retention Guidelines.

2004-09-07 - The Implementation Function, Phase and Function-Phase pages have been updated. The associated document descriptions have also been posted, though the associated templates and tailoring guides are not yet available.

2004-08-25 - The Deliverable Management Process template and tailoring guide, and the Deliverable Expectation Document (DED) template have been added to the Documents area. The Request for Proposal (RFP) materials from the old BP website have been posted to the Topics area. Updated the Initaiton phase description with recent comments and lessons learned.
