Role-Phase Matrix
Project Office Matrix by Role-Phase
The Role-Phase Matrix defines “WHO” performs the activities and work products (as opposed to “WHAT” is the work to be done as discussed in the Function-Phase Matrix). Not everyone has the skills and expertise to create and perform all of the functions of the project office. The Role-Phase Matrix describes a TEAM of dedicated staff who must work together to produce a cohesive and cooperative work environment (called the Project Office). The term Role is used to classify a collection of skills needed to perform the tasks of the project (e.g. Project Manager and Team). The same person typically performs multiple roles, especially when the project is in the early phases of development. In some cases, multiple roles may be assigned to a single individual. However, roles should not be eliminated or redefined.|
