Project Office Matrix by Function-Phase

The Function-Phase Matrix defines “WHAT” activities and work products are required of the “Project Office” (rather than “WHO” does the work as discussed in the Role-Phase Matrix). The Function-Phase matrix summarizes a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for building the environment specially customized for the project team and their unique needs (like a fully furnished office building with processes, tools, contracts, plans, and equipment for doing the business of managing the project), as well as the activities required to manage the efforts of a prime contractor.
